EducationColorado.org has set the following goals in their drive for educational freedom:

1) State funding for each child equivalent to what the State allocates per pupil in the public schools, funding follows the student to where they receive their education - either to public schools or to parents who then choose the best schooling option.

2) Participation in any such program is completely voluntary by parents. Those who wish to send their children to public schools may continue to do so.

3) Upon enactment of an Educational Freedom program, the State will not be allowed any furtherance of ability to regulate or interfere with the education of students beyond what the Educational Freedom program states; this includes education providers. In order to assure this, this program must be a Constitutional Amendment.

4) (a) Parents will sign an agreement with the State giving a summary of the educational program for their child (called an IEP), which shall include courses and hours/days a year. (b) The signed agreement need only prepare their child to minimally participate in society so as not to be a burden on the State. Also (c) the agreement shall satisfy the Compulsory Education and Attendance laws of the State of Colorado.

Some citizens have voiced concern over further regulations by the State because of this kind of law. We have two thoughts that might help these concerns, 1) the education of children in the State of Colorado is under the legal jurisdiction of the General Assembly, and they by Constitutional law can add to, or change regulations at any time or way they choose to. This program will not open any doors to further state interference beyond what is already available to the General Assembly. and 2) because this Educational law is completely voluntary, a citizen need not partake in the provisions contained in this law. Thus, the State would not further their jurisdiction over those who do not participate.
