Many parents have voiced concern over further regulations by the State because of this kind of law. We have two thoughts that might help your concerns, 1) the education of children in the State of Colorado is under the legal jurisdiction of the General Assembly, and can add to, or change regulations at any time or way they choose to, except for what’s in the Colorado Constitution, and 2) because this Educational law is completely voluntary, a citizen need not partake in the provisions contained in this law. Thus, no need to worry that those who do choose to receive funds from the State will mean the State can further their jurisdiction over you.

With that said, the following are some of the important components of the Education Colorado Initiative Amendment:

—> State funding for each child is equivalent to what pupils in the public school districts receive, but are payable to parents, not schools

—> The Amendment does not allow for the State to further regulate or interfere with the education of students beyond what is stated in this law, or existing laws, the same goes for the providers of educational services

—> Participation in the program is completely voluntary, parents may continue to send their children to public schools, a private school, or home school as before

—> Enrolling in the program satisfies the Colorado Compulsory Education Laws
